Letter from an American Cassandra

To my fellow American citizens, including those in the tri-State spheres of affluence:

I have tried to make it clear to you that your wearing face masks and you keeping your physical distance, though it may help keep you and yours safer, does NOTHING to end the pandemic among the serfs and paupers in this country. The serfs whose jobs are deemed more essential than their lives in meat-packing plants, Amazon warehouses, driving buses, and working in hospitals and nursing homes, the paupers who have no shelter for sheltering-in, or who are sitting ducks in third-class nursing homes, these are callously ignored when you preach endlessly your self-righteous stance on face masks and “social distancing”.

You have closed your hearts and your ears to my plea for a

$1500 WEEKLY CITIZEN STIPEND.

You have mindlessly and falsely claimed that it couldn’t be done, when

IT IS THE ONE THING WHICH NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!

Do not be surprised when the pandemic returns to our own states through people who were forced to go to work when sick or who live in train stations or who travel from bus depot to bus depot or who have acquaintances or family members among these poor and powerless.

IT IS ONLY WHEN WE HAVE THE COMPASSION TO END POVERTY THAT POVERTY-DRIVEN PLAGUES WILL CEASE TO AFFLICT US.
